Themes and tropes

This  fast-paced, Avatar-style, clean science fantasy novella features a slow-burn romance, hidden identities, dystopian tensions, mysterious powers, and themes of hope and redemption.

At its heart, however, Son of Osivirius is about how we deal with fear. Corporate greed is tackled, as well as loss, class divides, and the scarcity vs abundance mindset. You'll also find found family, resistance against oppression, redemption and sacrifice. The romance is a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers, and there's a grumpy/sunshine bromance too. Jayden is a fish out of water, and he and Nettle could even be considered star-crossed.

Survival and Loyalty: The novella delves into the struggle for survival in a harsh environment and the loyalty that binds the rebels together, contrasting with the oppressive regime of Central.

Technological Advancement vs. Natural Living: The story explores the tension between the technologically advanced colony and the rebels' harmonious existence with the planet and its creatures.

Identity and Personal Growth: Jayden's journey from a desperate pilot to a member of the rebel community highlights themes of self-discovery and the search for belonging.

Trust and Betrayal: The narrative examines the complexities of trust, as characters navigate their suspicions and alliances amidst the threat of betrayal.

Human and Nature Bond: The connection between humans and the Masu underscores the potential for unity and cooperation, challenging the exploitative tendencies of the colonists.
